What is Playstation?

Playstation is a video game console made by Sony. First released in 1995 it dominated its generation and has had four revisions to date. The PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro are both hardware revisions that offer improved thermals, quieter fans and a smaller form factor. The Pro also offers a performance boost with games running at 4K output and higher framerates.

Sony’s PlayStation controller is a remarkable piece of technology. Its DualSense technology provides a much more immersive and natural gameplay experience, and the ergonomics are spot on. There are a few areas in which the new console could be improved but overall it’s a phenomenal machine with a strong launch lineup.

PlayStation has been a huge success for Sony, and the brand has become synonymous with many popular and valued game franchises, such as Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us and Gran Turismo. The brand has expanded to include multiple handheld devices, an online service and multiple magazines.

One of the most important aspects of a gaming console is its compatibility with old titles. While Microsoft’s commitment to backwards compatibility is unmatched, PlayStation has been able to utilise its storage architecture and emulation capabilities to provide an outstanding level of performance for older titles. As a result, loading times for many of the games in the PlayStation library are incredibly short, with some titles taking less than 7 seconds to boot up and reach actual gameplay.
