What is Playstation?

playstation

Playstation is a gaming console developed by Sony to compete with other video game systems from companies like Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft. It was released in December 1994 and was a huge success, selling over 100 million units by the end of its run. It is often credited with helping to revolutionize the way games are designed. It helped move the industry from two-dimensional side-scrolling titles to 3D worlds and open-world adventures.

The PlayStation was the brainchild of Ken Kutaragi, a Sony executive who had just managed one of its hardware engineering divisions at that time. He would later be dubbed the father of the PlayStation. He wanted to create a system that could combine home entertainment and gaming in a single device. It was the first console to allow players to play media other than video games and the earliest console with a built-in CD player.

In a nutshell, each button on a PlayStation controller is actually a switch that completes a circuit when pressed. There is a small metal disk underneath each button that comes into contact with two strips of conductive material on the circuit board inside the controller. This closes the circuit and sends a signal to the CPU, which then interprets the input and responds accordingly.

While there was a lot of expectation on the PS5 after the rousing success of its predecessor, it didn’t just meet those expectations – it made them look conservative in comparison. With its lightning-fast load times and innovative (and captivating) changes to the DualShock controller, the PlayStation 5 is a powerhouse that’s setting the bar for the next generation of consoles.
